On the other hand, these pearls are meant to be swirled together, and using a large fluffy brush, therefore ensuring an airy finish devoid of glitter.

I’m very sure if you picked up enough of the pearlescent white and champagne shades, you will end up with a fairly glittery swatch. Therefore, trying to build up a visible swatch is simply an oxymoron. Guerlain Meteorites are such fine powders, and they are designed to be idiot-proof in a way that it is impossible to overdo. I have never attempted to swatch any of these Meteorites on my arm… well, to be completely honest, I have tried in the past and just gave it up as futile as there is simply no good way to swatch and be representative of how it really looks like on the face. The decorative motive in the center of the lid is uncharacteristically colorful, with green, pink and white shades representative of the contents within. It is a soft white scalloped tin with a lush golden lid, and the interior of the tin is a pretty baby pink. The packaging is lovely, of course, as we can always expect from Guerlain.

Champagne and pearlescent white pearls even out skin tone and illuminate. Sunny yellow pearls warm up the complexion and counters redness, and are like little balls of sunshine in a tin! Fresh green also minimizes redness and perks up the face. The rich coral pearls look almost chocolate or bronze to me, and give suntanned skin more radiance, perfect for the summer season. The bright fuchsia pearls remind me of the Angelic Radiance Meteorites Perles de Blush from Spring 2015 and are included to revive dull complexions.

What makes the Rainbow Pearls really enrapturing is the mix of bright poppy colors in contrast to the usual muted shades. But once you dust that off, the actual pearls are really more satin. When I first received the Rainbow Pearls, there was quite a substantial layer of loose powder coating the pearls at the very top of the tin, and it seemed to me that the more shimmery pearls were more prone to disintegrating, causing the entire tin to appear more shimmery than it really is. These Rainbow Pearls may look shimmery in the tin, but they really aren’t! In comparison to last summer’s Aquarella Meteorites, and last Holiday 2014’s Meteorites Perles d’Etoiles Illuminating Pearls, the Rainbow Pearls are much less frosty and are probably one of the more “wearable” meteorites that have been recently released. And for the benefit of all those who are similarly inured, who are asking the same question of “why would I need more ballz?”, let me just put it out there. But after using it for awhile now, it feels different somehow. I have lost track of how many tins of these candy-like Meteorites I own now, and quite frankly, when I first heard of these Rainbow Pearls my reaction was somewhat muted. But even when bronzing it up, we can all do with a bit of glow, and Guerlain has reinvented its signature Meteorites and released a very special limited edition Guerlain Météorites Rainbow Pearls just for this season. Usually when we think about Guerlain’s summer collections, their famed terracottas invariably take centerstage.
